SYNVOX · NODE.JS

From download to your first chat

One ZIP archive for macOS, Windows and Linux. A preview for testing, not a native installer. Alpha version 0.5.60.

1. Install Node.js

Install Node.js 22 from the official website for your operating system and processor. npm is included. Open a new terminal window and check the versions. You need internet access and your own AI provider account.

Node.js ↗
node --version
npm --version

2. Extract the archive

Windows: right-click the ZIP → Extract All. macOS: double-click the ZIP. Linux: use Extract in your file manager. Use a separate SYNVOX folder. Do not run inside the ZIP or extract over an older version.

3. Install dependencies

Open the folder containing package.json. Windows: enter cmd in the File Explorer address bar and press Enter. macOS/Linux: type cd followed by a space in Terminal, drag the extracted folder into the window and press Enter. Run the command and wait for dependencies and browsers to download; this may take several minutes.

npm ci

4. Start the application

Run this in the same folder. Keep the terminal open. For later launches, only this command is needed. Press Ctrl+C in the terminal to stop.

npm start

5. Connect an AI and a project

Select a provider and sign in to your account using the offered login window. Create a chat, select a model and project folder. First ask for an overview without file changes. Review permissions in Settings before edits and commands. Use a project copy or a separate Git branch. Third-party accounts and limits are not included.

6. Installation key and subscription

Access is managed in Settings → Subscription: a 3-day trial, then 99 RUB for 30 days through YooKassa or 100 Telegram Stars. No automatic renewal. Payment is linked to your installation key; keep it private. If access does not activate, contact support with your order number.

Troubleshooting

node or npm not found

Install Node.js 22, close and reopen the terminal, then check the version again.

package.json / ENOENT error

Change to the extracted folder containing package.json and retry.

Browser download failed / Linux libraries missing

Check your connection and retry npm ci. Linux may require browser system libraries. Send the exact error to support; do not disable system security.

Terms, data and refunds

Windows: step by step

  1. Install Node.js 22 LTS using the official Windows MSI installer. Keep npm and PATH enabled.
  2. Download the SYNVOX ZIP. In Downloads, right-click → Extract All. Open the inner SYNVOX folder containing package.json, bin and src.
  3. Click the File Explorer address bar, type cmd, and press Enter. Do not run as administrator.
  4. Run the commands below one at a time. Wait for npm ci to finish. If PowerShell blocks npm.ps1, use Command Prompt or npm.cmd ci and npm.cmd start; do not disable execution security.
node --version
npm --version
npm ci
npm start

macOS: step by step

  1. Install Node.js 22 LTS from the official website, then open a new Terminal window.
  2. Double-click the ZIP in Finder. Move the extracted SYNVOX folder to Documents, for example.
  3. Open Applications → Utilities → Terminal. Type cd followed by a space, drag the SYNVOX folder into Terminal and press Enter.
  4. Run ls and confirm package.json is listed. Run npm ci, wait until it finishes, then run npm start. Do not use sudo.

Linux: step by step

  1. Install Node.js 22 or newer and npm using the official instructions for your distribution. Check node --version and npm --version.
  2. Extract the ZIP. Open a terminal in the SYNVOX folder containing package.json.
  3. Run npm ci, then npm start. A graphical desktop session is required. If browser libraries are missing, send the exact error to support; do not run as root or disable the browser sandbox.

First login and payment

  1. Wait for SYNVOX to open; initial browser preparation may take longer. Keep Terminal open.
  2. Select a provider and sign in on the provider's own page. Complete any CAPTCHA or login confirmation yourself. Never send account passwords in chat.
  3. Open a project copy, create a chat, select a model and ask: “Reply with one word: ready.” Then ask it to describe the project without modifying files.
  4. Open Settings → Subscription and check the expiry date. Select YooKassa or Telegram Stars to extend access, review the documents and confirm the requested consents.
  5. For Stars, use the Telegram link generated by this SYNVOX installation. Choose your language and complete consent and installation linking before paying the invoice. Simply opening the bot does not link your installation.
  6. Return to SYNVOX and click Check status. Access extends after server confirmation. If it does not, do not pay again: send support the order number, payment time and amount.

Qwen multi-account management is in Settings → Accounts. Add another account and enable automatic switching. Switching applies to supported Qwen quota responses, not every error or every provider.

Restarting, stopping and updating

For subsequent launches, open Terminal in the same SYNVOX folder and run npm start. You do not need npm ci every time. Stop the application with Ctrl+C in Terminal.

Before a manual update, stop the app and keep the old folder. Extract the new version into a separate folder, run npm ci, then npm start. Do not delete user data or authentication folders. Reinstallation does not grant a new trial. This ZIP is not an EXE/DMG installer and does not enable automatic updates.

If EADDRINUSE / “port already in use” appears, close your existing SYNVOX instance first. For npm network failures, check your connection and retry; do not disable certificate verification. For a blank window, send the last Terminal error lines to support after removing keys, passwords and cookies.

Computer control: operating system requirements

Chat, project tasks and built-in browser snapshots are available independently of the desktop session. Select Computer in the current chat to use screen, mouse and keyboard tools.

  • Windows: requires an active user desktop; do not run SYNVOX as a service. Shell commands use cmd.exe. PowerShell can be invoked explicitly as an installed program.
  • macOS: grant Screen Recording and Accessibility to the process launching SYNVOX in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
  • Linux: requires a graphical X11 session and DISPLAY. Wayland desktop control is not supported yet. Ubuntu/Debian may need libxtst6 libxrandr2 libxi6; install browser dependencies with npx playwright install-deps chromium.

Native modules are npm dependencies. If @jitsi/robotjs is missing, retry npm ci and retain the installation error. Full Windows input and multiple monitors still require manual acceptance. This ZIP remains an alpha.
